A Mega Health Mela was organised by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Services and the Govt. of Puducherry from 29.04.2022 to 01.05.2022 at Old Port, Puducherry.
In this regard, stall no.10 was allotted to our Institution to display the IEC materials for spreading awareness about Oral Cancers and Oral Hygiene. The event was planned at the Old Port area from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm.
A 15 member dental team representing our Institution participated in in the Mega Health Mela on shift basis. Oral Pathology museum specimens and health education posters relating to Oral Cancers and Oral Hygiene were exhibited to the audience for spreading awareness about Oral Cancer Prevention and Oral Hygiene Maintenance.
Junior residents and CRRIs actively explained the oral cancer specimens, health education posters and demonstrated the “Brushing technique” either by individual or group method of communication. Dental health check-up was done on request basis.IEC materials like pamphlets, brochures and booklets relating to tobacco,nutrition,dental caries ,periodontal health and orofacial rehabilitation procedures were issued to all the visitors as part of oral health education and measures of reinforcement.
A total of 1710 members were benefitted during this Mega Health Mela.
