This quote is true with our institution. Yes, the present MGPGI, way back in 1990 was started only just in 2 rooms as Pondicherry Dental College. It was subsequently renamed as Mahatma Gandhi Dental College & Hospital in the year 1995. Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital was upgraded to present status as Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences (MGPGIDS) on 08.09.2005

MGPGIDS has earned very remarkable appreciation for value-based education and imparting the ideals of academic and clinical excellence, sense of discipline and high moral and ethical values. MGPGIDS is a silver jubilarian, through which many excellent dentists have nurtured their future.

The Institution has chosen the Motto “knowledge is power” emphasizing that knowledge is the most essential thing to empower a person. Since the inception, 26 batches of students have graduated from this Institution and 19 batches have completed post-graduation (M.D.S). The degrees (BDS and MDS) are recognized by the Dental Council of India, and Ministry of Health Family Welfare, Government of India and this Institute is permanently affiliated to the Pondicherry University (A Central University).

MGPGI has undoubtedly made its niche in the field of dental education and dental services for our country.
